A UNIVERSITY graduate from Stourport will be hosting a tea party this weekend to help her raise funds towards her bid to help fight poverty.

Mairaid Harte has been accepted to take part in an International Citizen Service, which enables people aged between 18 and 25 to do voluntary work abroad.

The 22-year-old will be working with Balloon Ventures, which focuses on helping entrepreneurs in Kenya, Uganda and Ghana, create, grow and sustain businesses.

But in order to show commitment to the programme, volunteers are asked to fundraise for ICS, the proceeds of which will go to Balloon Ventures to ensure youth volunteers can continue to carry out their work in disadvantaged communities.

Mairaid needs to raise £800 and to help with this, she is holding a charity afternoon tea at Kateshill House, Red Hill, Bewdley on Sunday, April 23.

There will be two sittings from 2.30pm to 4pm and 4.30pm to 6pm. Tickets cost £15 a head and must be booked in advance. To purchase one, people should call 01299 401563.
