A KIDDERMINSTER woman completed the London Marathon in support of her mother to raise vital funds for Epilepsy Action.

Victoria Slinger, from Caunsall, was one of 40,000 runners who took on the challenging 26.2 mile run.

The 32-year-old clocked up a time of six hours and seven minutes and has raised more than £1,750 to support people living with epilepsy and their families.

She said: "I am thrilled to have completed the London Marathon for Epilepsy Action.

"My mum has epilepsy and has done since she was a child, so I wanted to raise money for families like ours.

"The course was tough at times, but knowing I was running for such a fantastic cause really helped me focus on reaching the finish. The crowds cheering me on were brilliant."

Xanthe Hopkinson, of Epilepsy Action, added: "Congratulations to Victoria on such a fantastic achievement.

"The atmosphere on the day was electric and all our runners have collectively helped us raise more than £63,800 to support people with epilepsy. Their incredible efforts are hugely appreciated and mean we can continue to be there when people need us most."

National charity Epilepsy Action provides advice and support to the 600,000 people with epilepsy in the UK.
