A CAR was stolen from Blakedown after the keys were left in the ignition.

The victim, who is in his 70s, was cutting the front lawn when he was approached by two men and a woman who asked directions to the train station.

They asked him to write the directions down, and while he was getting a pen and paper from inside the house, they stole his silver Ford Focus, that had been parked in the garage with the keys in the ignition.

It happened at about 4pm yesterday.

The first man is described as white, in his early 20s with an Irish accent. He was 5ft 10ins tall, of thin build, with short dark hair, clean shaven and was wearing a dark green anorak.

The second man was also white, in his early 20s, 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build, clean shaven and wearing a black anorak.

The woman was white, aged 19 to 20, 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build, with dark brown shoulder-length hair in a pony tail, and wearing a dark coloured anorak and carrying a grey shoulder bag.

PC Su Goddard, of Kidderminster Police, said: “Owners are reminded never to leave the keys in a vehicle’s ignition, even, for example, while loading or unloading it, cleaning it, defrosting the windscreen in winter, paying for petrol, or posting a letter.

“These kind of thefts are opportunistic, and it only takes a moment for someone to jump behind the wheel and drive off.”

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact PC Goddard on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
