A FOUNDATION set up in memory of a Trimpley woman who was killed in an extreme sports accident in New zealand will be officially launched this weekend.

Chris and Sarah Jordan set up the Emily Jordan Foundation as a legacy to their 21-year-old daughter who was killed while river boarding on April 29.

The aim of the charity is to help and support people with learning difficulties and will focus on local groups struggling for support.

It will be launched at Worcester Racecourse on Sunday from 10am until 5.30pm where there will be a barbecue, sumo wrestling, ice cream vans and a merchandise stall with t-shirts and hats.

Emily, who graduated in law from Swansea University, was involved in helping people through her voluntary work with Wyre Forest LAFS (Learn Achieve Fun Socialise) – a voluntary organisation for young people with learning difficulties.

Mrs Jordan said: “The event is being held to raise awareness of the foundation. We want to raise a lot of money for the foundation and to raise the profile locally.”

She added that about £12,000 had been raised for the foundation so far through charity events.

“We want to use the money to build somewhere where adults with learning difficulties can do things like horticulture,” she said.
