A BLAZE at a Kidderminster church was tackled by firefighters overnight.
A crew from Kidderminster station was called just before midnight to a “well developed” fire at Trinity Methodist Church, Churchfields, which took two hours to extinguish.
Crews from Bewdley and Stourport and two from Worcester also attended the scene.
In total, five appliances tackled the fire, with one aerial appliance and three hose reel jets.
All people from the church were accounted for. Watch manager Paul Johnson said the church caretaker and his partner had managed to escape before firefighters arrived.
Mr Johnson explained it was a “significant” blaze, with a large amount of smoke billowing from the roof level. He added: “We were able to fight the fire quite quickly in the end.”
An investigation is being carried out into the cause of the fire.
