Body auction: Companies are being invited to bid to have their logo painted on to Philippa Tomson’s body.
A WEATHER girl and former Kidderminster journalist is set to send temperatures soaring ahead of the Great North Run by auctioning off parts of her body for charity.
Philippa Tomson, 31, an ITV Tyne Tees weather and news presenter, explained that a professional body artist will paint the highest bidding company’s logo directly on to her body, with certain “areas” commanding a higher bid.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, the former head girl of Kidderminster’s Holy Trinity School explained she was hoping to put a smile on people's faces, whatever the weather.
She admitted, however, she was more used to telling people whether to slap on the sunscreen or remember their brollies than taking part in a challenge like this.
She said: "I will be pounding the streets for two fantastic charities and I need to raise more than an arm and a leg, so please get in touch right now.
“I am raising money for two charities this year - Metro Radio's official charity, Cash for Kids and Someone Cares, which support victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
“I have never run this distance before so it is a real challenge for me and I can't wait. As you can imagine, I am really working on my fitness right now, as I am definitely going to be getting extra exposure."
Philippa moved on from Central News to become anchor presenter for North East Tonight in 2006, before taking on a new role as weather girl earlier this year. She had lived in the Midlands for 25 years before the relocation.

Fellow news presenter, Kenny Toal, will be keeping her company on the run in Newcastle on September 20 but will be keeping firmly covered up.
