Basins painting presented to Stourport's twin

STOURPORT’S Mayor commissioned a special painting of the town’s basins to present to the twin town of Villeneuve-le-Roi.
The presentation happened as part of a visit by a delegation of dignitaries from Stourport during the twin town’s annual land carnival.
John Holden, Stourport Mayor, explained that a family member, Gabrielle Mercer, of Chaddesley Corbett, was responsible for the painting.
He said: “It was received fantastically well. I spoke in French to introduce the painting.
“I told them about the fact that my cousin’s wife spent 62 hours in the preparation, painting, and finishing of the picture.
“They told me they have got a good place to put it up in the Mayor’s parlour.”
