WYRE Forest residents are being urged to do their Christmas shopping locally by the Leader of the district council.
Conservative, John Campion, said with the economic climate still “distinctly chilly”, local people supporting local shops would help keep local people in jobs.
He explained many Wyre Forest businesses relied on the Christmas period to see them through the lean months in the new year and people supporting their local shops could make the difference.
He said: “Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley town centres all have much to offer local shoppers, from big high street names to specialist independents.
“I urge local people to keep it local this year, wherever possible, and help make a brighter and more prosperous Wyre Forest in 2010.”
