A CYCLIST was injured in a non-stop road crash in Broome, near Kidderminster.

It happened just after 2pm yesterday by Redhall Farm in Hackman’s Gate Lane, between the A450 Worcester Road and Belbroughton.

A white Transit-type van was involved in a collision with a bicycle while both were travelling towards Belbroughton.

The cyclist, a man from the Stourbridge area, fell from his bike and sustained hip, shoulder, head and hand injuries although these were not thought to be serious.

He was taken by ambulance to Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, and released last night following treatment.

The van involved lost a wing mirror during the incident but did not stop at the scene.

PC Ann O’Herlihy, who is investigating, said: “We urgently need to trace the white van involved in this collision and if anyone has any idea who might have been involved or knows of a vehicle like this that has just lost a near-side wing mirror then we would like to hear from them.

“We would also like to speak to anyone who may have been on Hackman’s Gate Lane who saw this collision, noticed the van and the cyclist either before it happened, or saw a van of this description heading towards Belbroughton afterwards.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PC O’Herlihy on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident reference 0395-S-031209, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
