Food for thought on menu in Shenstone fund-raiser for cancer research

FOOD for thought will be dished up at a Wyre Forest charity’s fund-raising lunch next week.

The district’s Cancer Research UK committee is holding the annual event at the Granary Hotel and Restaurant, Shenstone, on Wednesday, May 9.

Guest speaker will be Dr Neil Steven, deputy director of the Cancer Research Institute in Birmingham.

Wyre Forest Cancer Research UK Committee chairman Peter Tomlinson said: “Many people look forward to our annual luncheon as it is a very relaxed and pleasant occasion.

“As well as raising vital funds, it is our way of saying how much we appreciate the help from our many supporters.”

Tickets cost £20 and are available by ringing 01299 250205 or 01562 823825.

Meanwhile, the committee has announced it has raised more than £1,000 in the last few weeks.

A concert by the Crown Phoenix Big Band at Stourport Civic Hall netted £770 and £300 was collected at Sainsbury’s, Kidderminster, on April 7.
