A taste of volunteering at Wilden Marsh

NATURE lovers in Wyre Forest are being invited to get out and about to help wildlife.

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is looking for new recruits to help manage Wilden Marsh nature reserve and the charity is running a taster day on Thursday.

Anna Bunney, the trust’s volunteer co-ordinator, explained: “Wilden Marsh is a fantastic nature reserve between Stourport and Kidderminster. The reserve runs alongside the river Stour and consists of dry and marshy fields with small alder and willow woods.

“There is limited access to most of the reserve so this is a great opportunity to get involved with a really special place.

“The taster day will give participants the chance to get involved with hands-on management such as removing ragwort, clearing non-native Himlayan balsam as well repairing fences.”

Volunteers on the day will also be given a tour of the reserve and will learn about the management techniques used there.

The taster day will run from 10am until 3pm. Anyone interested should contact 01905 754919 or anna@worcestershirewildlifetrust.org to book their place.
