Wyre Forest District Council sets September move-in date for HQ

COUNCILLORS and staff at Wyre Forest District Council will move into its new £10.5 million headquarters in September, according to its chief executive.

Ian Miller stated in his half-yearly report one of the major challenges for the council over the coming year would be “a successful move to the new headquarters, Wyre Forest House, in September 2012”.

It was announced in April this year building work was due to be completed by Monday, July 30, six weeks later than originally planned, although this is the first time a move-in date has been given.

Mr Miller said: “After the [July 30] handover, the building’s services need to be tested, any snags identified and the IT network installed, so it was always going to take some weeks after handover before staff would be able to move in.”

Let's hope when the Councillors roll up on their first day there isn't anyone already sat in their seats.
