THE condition of a man injured during a car crash which killed a young couple from Kidderminster has improved, according to police.

Craig Townsend was badly injured in the fatal collision near Wick, Pershore on Saturday, June 9 which killed his wife Rebecca Townsend, her brother Luke Morris and his partner Elizabeth Stanley, from Kidderminster.

A statement from West Mercia Police said: “Over the weekend [Mr Townsend’s] condition improved and he is no longer considered to be critical.

“His condition is now serious but stable and he remains at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.”

Mrs Townsend and Mr Morris both previously attended Wolverley CE Secondary School, headteacher Richard North told The Shuttle last week staff were “devastated to hear about the deaths”.

Mr Morris was driving a black Nissan 200 SX Coupe along the B4084 when it came off the road and collided with a tree at Avon Bank, near Pershore Agricultural College, at about 12.35am.
