A MAGICIAN from Bewdley is celebrating 20 years entertaining after quitting his office job to pursue his hobby.
Andy Kirk, 47, took the decision after he moved to a new insurance company and instantly regretted it.
Mr Kirk, who has two children, said: “It turned out to be the best thing I have ever done. It was difficult to get a job at that time anyway - people thought I was mad.”
His career has led him to meet fellow magicians Paul Daniels and Wayne Dobson as well as perform at a christening that Jeremy Kyle attended. “He said his kids loved my show and he’s actually a really nice guy,” said Mr Kirk.
The British Magical Society proved a great help to Mr Kirk, who spent a year as its president 10 years ago. The society, based in Birmingham, is one of the oldest magical societies in the country.
