Key documents published to guide future development of district

TWO key planning documents that will help to provide certainty about the future development of Wyre Forest have been produced.

They are the Site Allocations and Policies document, which covers sites such as British Sugar, Romwire, Parson Chain, Lea Castle Hospital and the West Midland Safari and Leisure Park and The Kidderminster Central Area Action Plan, including sites around Churchfields, Comberton Hill, Green Street and the town centre.

The documents, which will guide the location of specific new types of development, have been published following several years’ consultation and evidence gathering and provide a strategy to support the area’s regeneration and growth.

Both of the documents include policies that will be used to decide on planning applications in the future as well as ensuring the district’s future development needs for employment, housing, retail and community uses are met.

An eight-week publication period will take place from Monday until Friday, September 14.

Conservative councillor Julian Phillips , Wyre Forest District Council ’s cabinet member for place shaping, said: “The district council is taking positive and proactive steps to ensure the planning framework is in place to support the district’s economy and business growth in the area.

“These two key planning documents have been developed following extensive consultation with local residents, businesses and key stakeholders and we are very grateful for the community’s input throughout this process.

“Once adopted, these two documents will provide the framework for making key decisions about future development within the district.”

He added the documents would be used to decide on planning applications received by the council in the future.
