Kidderminster Hospital petition tops 9,000 signatures

MORE than 9,000 people in less than a month have signed the Kidderminster Hospital Alliance’s petition to stop further downgrading or closure of the facility.

More than 1,500 signatures were added to the list during an event outside Kidderminster Town Hall last Thursday and at St George’s Park, Kidderminster, last Friday.

Alliance spokesman Stephen Brown said volunteers had been collecting signatures from communities across Wyre Forest, contributing to taking the total above 9,000.

That includes 1,400 signatures collected by Fred Holland, chairman of Wyre Forest’s Diabetes UK branch. Mr Brown said: “Mr Holland and his members at Diabetes UK deserve special praise for their commitment to the cause.”

The group will discuss its next steps, review responses they have received and consider contacting the NHS’s joint services review based on meetings with the public during their campaign.
