ORGANISERS of a re-launched Wyre Forest musical extravaganza have announced the line-up which will help them raise money for the district’s charities.
Your Music concerts are based on the popular Music for You shows which raised more than £150,000 for Wyre Forest causes over 30 years, ending last year. They take place on Friday and Saturday, October 5 and 6 at Kidderminster Town Hall.
Both nights will see performances from Kidderminster Valentines, West Midland Light Orchestra and Bromsgrove School Big Band. On Friday Birmingham Schools Guitar Ensemble will join the show and on Saturday audiences will enjoy Bravura Young Violinists.
Beneficiaries of the inaugural event will be Kemp Hospice , Cancer Research UK Wyre Forest, Kidderminster and District Prostate Cancer Support Group and League of Friends of Kidderminster Hospitals.
Your Music spokesman Pam Cunningham said: “We are aiming to raise about £5,000.
“It is always a privilege to be able to do things that are supporting people who are suffering. To be able to do it through a joyful bringing together of the community is the best way forward for helping.”
She said prostate cancer was the most prevalent cancer among men and the support group needed money to help raise awareness and support those with the illness.
Kemp Hospice fundraiser Richard Brown said the concert was being held at a time of financial uncertainty.
“Given this, we really need everyone’s support to continue to deliver all of our services,” he added.
Peter Tomlinson, Cancer Research UK Wyre Forest chairman, added: “We are absolutely delighted we have been chosen as one of the charities to benefit.”
A spokesman for the hospital friends said they had recently purchased a sound scanner for £21,500 and needed more money to help save lives.
Tickets are available from John Beard Ironmonger, Kidderminster, R.G.Timmis, Bewdley, Mr Cleancall, Stourport and Kidderminster Town Hall by calling Judy Morris on 01562 751753.
