Play your part in rail line's future
9:20am Saturday 15th September 2012 in Local
TRAIN enthusiasts can play a part in the future of Severn Valley Railway (SVR) by helping to fund investment in the attraction.
The heritage line, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, is offering up to three million shares at £1 per share, from October.
The cash raised will fund investment in SVR and will go towards the restoration of the GWR locomotive Hagley Hall and a complementary set of historic carriages plus maintenance and refurbishment of the railway’s infrastructure.
It will also help to fund the creation of a heritage engineering and building training academy and development of an apprenticeship and training scheme for young people.
Nick Ralls, SVR’s general manager, said: “The demands of operating a 150-year-old railway are considerable.
“We are committed to ensuring the infrastructure is properly maintained, that rolling stock is of a high standard and that visitors have the kind of facilities they expect.”
Entitled ‘Share the Passion’, the share offer document will be launched at SVR’s members and shareholders weekend on October 13 and 14.
