Lollipop patrols back on the road

TWO school lollipop patrols forced off a busy Kidderminster road by speeding drivers will be back on duty from this afternoon.

The workers were removed by Worcestershire County Council on Tuesday, following several near misses in Birmingham Road caused by dangerous manoeuvres by drivers.

They were exceeding the 40mph speed limit and driving illegally in a hatched lane approaching the crossing point.

The hatched lane was coned off yesterday and safety checks were carried out on the dual carriageway this morning.

A meeting was also held on site to make sure the cones would stop drivers using the hatched lane.

A Worcestershire County Council spokesman said the cones would be there for the foreseeable future.
