Clee future remains unclear
12:22pm Friday 12th October 2012 in Local
District council chairman Stephen Clee.
WYRE Forest Conservatives are remaining tight-lipped about reports the district council’s chairman Stephen Clee has been expelled from the party.
Wyre Forest Conservative Association has decided not to release any information over its decision which was believed to have been made last month.
It is understood that a vote was taken by an executive committee of the association to expel Mr Clee, who also represents Bewdley and Arley on the authority, on September 21.
Mr Clee had 14 days to appeal against the decision but it is not known whether he exercised his right.
The appeal period is now up but the local party told The Shuttle today that it would not be releasing any further information.
Mr Clee is also a Worcestershire county councillor, representing Chaddesley Corbett.

For the Wyre Forest Conservatives to release a statement that it would not be releasing any further information on this matter just fuels public speculation - and quite right too !

Words such as 'open' and 'transparent' are not in the vocabulary of Wyre Forest Tories.

Wyre Forest Tories clearly need someone to handle press enquiries. Perhaps drbeat should do the job?

I mean, sure it's not as if they can chose to get rid of him mid-term (a major deficiency in our electoral process), but I'm sure they'd like to know.

They just have to sit back and laugh in the knowledge that Clee is obviously a threat to those that are almost wetting themselves in anticipation of the next morsel that is thrown to them.

So is he still representing the Bewdley and Arley and Chaddesley Corbett electorate as a Conservative Party member or not?

should be the question rather than
"Is he still"

But I did get a response from John 'Mr Transparent' Campion when I asked him about Stephen Clee's status as a Tory councillor on another discussion thread on this site.
His response?
"If Mr Watson checks the WFDC and WCC websites he will find a complete list of who is a member of which party on the respective bodies."
I hope this answers your question FlipC.

a) He was never expelled;
b) He has appealed within the time limit; or
c) They haven't updated the sites.
Any bookies care to offer odds?

WRONG! Harry Purcell was elected in 1997. Clee was elected at a by-election in December 1998.
It also states that he has represented Bewdley, Arley, Shatterford and Pound Green for the Tories since 1992.
WRONG AGAIN! The good people of Wribbehall & Arley had the good sense to dump him in 1996. He had to wait for two years before he could join his good friend Louise Edginton *cough* as a District Councillor for Bewdley.

They're desperate to avoid this thing entering the public domain. What are they afraid of?
