TWO rotary clubs are teaming up to host a fundraising concert for Kemp Hospice at Kidderminster Town Hall.

Hagley and Kinver Rotary Clubs have booked West Midlands Fire Service band and Stourport Choral Society for the evening’s entertainment.

The band and the choral society will have their own solo spots before coming together for a finale of Last Night of Proms music.

David Dewhirst, president of the Hagley Rotary Club, said: “Rotary is about trying to raise money for charities and we try to have a lot of fun and friendship.

“Hagley only has 17 members and Kinver has 45 so it’s impossible to run big events. We proposed a joint organisation and we share out any money we raise 50/50. The majority is going to Kemp Hospice

“Kemp Hospice is an excellent cause. We know people who have passed away there. We think hospices need all the support they can get and they have to raise all their funding themselves.”

West Midlands Fire Service will be performing music by Cole Porter, Andrew Lloyd Webber and music from the movies. Stourport Choral will be singing a medley from West Side Story and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Mr Dewhirst added: “Then they combine to do Last Night at the Proms, Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory. We’re hoping its going to be a good evening and raise a lot of money. The more people we can get coming in the better”

The Rotary Club’s will divide any further money raised between them for their local charities.

Hagley Rotary Club meet at the Stone Manor Hotel, in Mustow Green, on Monday evenings and are looking for new members.

The concert will take place on Friday, September 20 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10. Call 01562 732158 for more information.
