200 ready for starry stroll
9:08am Tuesday 3rd June 2008 in Midnight Walk 2008
Starlight stroll: OGL employees Lucy Goodall, Donna Perry, Sue Heavey and Hayley Warner who have signed up for the midnight walk.
MORE than 200 women have already signed up for a unique fund-raising stroll under the stars to help Kemp Hospice.
The sponsored moonlight walk through the beautiful Wyre Forest will be held on midsummer's day, setting off at midnight.
It is hoped the event will raise several thousand pounds for the work of the hospice which provides specialist care for Wyre Forest people with life-limiting diseases , and their families.
Among those who have signed up is a team of women from OGL Computer systems based in Kidderminster and Stourport.
Debbie Hotchkiss from OGL said: "We all wanted to do something to support such a worthwhile local charity and we also thought it would be a really fun team event that we could do out of work."
The route for the walk will cover five miles of Wyre Forest's enchanted woodland and it is hoped it will become an annual feature on the hospice fund-raising calendar.
Beth Jackson, hospice fundraiser, said: "It is a perfect opportunity for women to join together with their friends and family to take part in a special event to raise funds for the hospice.
"The staff at OGL have been great supporters of Kemp over the past few years, raising more than £8,000 for its work. We are delighted that the staff are continuing to support us.
The OGL walkers are well on their way to raising £800 in sponsorship for the event which takes place on Saturday, June 21, starting at the stroke of midnight at the Forestry Commission's Visitor Centre at Callow Hill.
Hospice organisers are also looking for men to help marshall the event.
If anyone is able to help out in any way, they should contact Beth Jackson at the hospice on 01562 861217.
So far over 200 women have registered to take part in the five mile walk, places are still available and walkers can register in the following ways:
