Kidderminster & District Scouting Took Aggborough By Storm
7:27pm Monday 5th March 2012 in Kidderminster Central
Kidderminster & District scouting took Aggborough by storm on Saturday when 500 Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, leaders, group supporters and parents etc attended a district scouting day at Kidderminster Harriers Football Club.
Last year when the football club was in its hour of need Kidderminster scouting rallied up 200 members for the Wrexham home game at very short notice.
The club was kind enough to allow scouting to supply 3 mascots in the form of a Beaver, a Cub and a Scout. The 3 chosen led Harriers out after visiting the home changing room where they got all the Harriers team autographs and had a photograph taken with defender Lee Vaughan. The lucky trio were 7 year old Beaver Scout Dan McClintock who attends the 1st Kidderminster Scout Group (Sea Scouts) Beaver colony, then next up was Cub Scout Daniel Hodgkins representing the 8th Kidderminster Scout Group (St Johns) Cub pack who is 10 years old. Finally we had 10 year old Scout Libby Loveridge who attends 14th Kidderminster Scout Group (Birchen Coppice).
During the half time interval 36 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts took part in 3 six a side matches to entertain the crowd under the guidance of Football in the Community Officer Nick Griffiths.
Anyone wishing to obtain further details about joining local scouting groups can call Jenny Greener on 01299 402889 or visit the district website www.kidderminsterscouts.org.uk
