KIDDERMINSTER and District Scouts will march through the town during the annual St George’s Day parade.

Groups will set off from New Road at 10.30am on Sunday.

The parade will be led along New Road, Prospect Hill and Bromsgrove Street by Birchen Coppice and Habberley Scout groups with Halesowen Scout Band and Kings Norton Marching Band.

From Bromsgrove Street, Guides and Brownies will separate and march to Baxter Church through Coventry Street, High Street and Bull Ring. District commissioner Gail Tutcher will attend and a collection will be going to Baxter Church.

Meanwhile, the march will continue to Radford Avenue where Beavers and Cubs will enter St George’s Church for their service, with the collection going to charity Make a Wish.

Scouts, Explorers and Young Leaders will go to Horsefair and Churchfields, where their service will take place at St Mary’s Church. The collection will go to Rhydd Covert and a local disabled sport charity to be confirmed.

Church guests will be Wyre Forest District Council chairman Stephen Clee, Kidderminster Mayor, Anne Hingley and Scouts county commissioner, Derek Barnes.

On the return march, a salute will be taken at the town hall and the parade will return to New Road at about 12.30pm.

Roads along the route will be closed at various times between 9.45am and 1pm.

They will be New Road from Pump Street to Marlborough Street junctions, Marlborough Street from New Road to Prospect Hill junctions, Propect Hill from Marlborough Street to Bromsgrove Street junctions, Bromsgrove Street from Prospect Hill to Coventry Street junctions, Coventry Street from Bromsgrove Street to Radford Avenue junctions, Radford Avenue, from Coventry Street to Blackwell Street junctions, Blackwell Street from Radford Avenue to Broad Street junctions, Broad Street from Blackwell Street to Churchfields, including Horsefair, Churchfields from Broad Street to Clensmore Street, Clensmore Street, from Churchfields to St Mary's Church, High Street from Coventry Street to Vicar Street junctions, Bull Ring from junction with Vicar Street, Church Street, Lower Mill Street and Pitts Lane, Vicar Street from High Street to Oxford Street junction, Oxford Street from Vicar Street to Bridge Street junctions and Bridge Street from Oxford Street to New Road junctions.
