KD8 St John’s netted a hat-trick of wins for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in the Kidderminster District Five-a-Side Football Tournament.

Scores of youngsters braved Sunday’s downpour to take part in the annual competition at Habberley Playing Fields.

The three finals all had scorelines of 2-1 victories for KD8 and Kidderminster Harriers assistant manager Neil Howarth presented the winners’ medals and trophies.

The winning Beavers’ team featuring Fred Coleman, Christian Ward, James Tonks, Corey Dickens and Oliver Heaton, managed by Russell Coleman, beat KD1 Sea Scouts Hoo Brook in their final, while Haydn Casey, Patrick Rossiter, Sam Beadsworth, David Mansfield, Sam Clifford and Ashley Brookes, managed by Dave Clifford, pulled off a final victory in a close game against a second KD8 team.

Mum Heather Hunter led the Scouts team to victory in her first managerial role with Evan Jones – top goalscorer of the day with 14 – Connor Bayliss, Nathan Hunter, Callum Clifford and Jimmy Watson securing a win against KD21 Habberley in another hotly contended game.
