6 young Scouts from KD8 took part in the first running of what is likely to become an annual District competition.
The boys all under 12 years of age, entered the event, which was to start near the Kinver scout camp and take then on a route following parts of the worcestershire way, through scenic countryside and finally return to the District camp site at Rhydd Covert.
During the day, they had to navigate their way along the route, fron instructions given as a set of map references, through a series of checpoints, taking on a set of challenges along the way.
The weather was very hot and took its toll making the going slow but steady.
At the end they took a well earned rest and joined the other teams in a BBQ supper and finished that just in time to eatch Englands first match of the world cup.
Once the scores and times had been checked and verified the lads were awarded a winners certificate for the Knot challenge base, and were placed second overall in the competition.
Their Scout Leader Stuart Hanslow said "I was extremely impressed with their performance, and maturity, and I look forwards to next years event and the chance in 2011 of the team possibly taking on more challenges of this kind. They will hopefully inspire more of their troop to take up their lead"
