METHODIST CHURCHES – Sunday services are as follows: Trinity Methodist Church, Churchfields, at 9am, service of Holy Communion, led by Rev Mary Austin, at 10.30am, led by Mike Dernie, and at 6.30pm, Annual Covenant Service, led by Rev Mary Austin. There is an informal lunchtime service at Trinity every Thursday at 12.30pm.

NATIONAL TRUST – The destruction of Pompeii following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius is a well known event in history. At the centre’s December meeting at Blakedown Parish Rooms, speaker Jack Reedy reminded his audience of the scale of the destruction.

SOMERLEYTON WI – Nearly all members went to Kingsford Country Park social club for the December meeting to play skittles. The prize for the highest score went to Kath Cashmore. The winner of the Christmas tree decoration was Pat Mullard.
