With Easter just around the corner, residents suffering domestic abuse are being asked to speak out.

For the majority of people, the Easter holidays are a happy time, but according to The Worcestershire Forum Against Domestic Abuse, violence in the home can increase at such times of year. Nationally, domestic abuse is a crime that is widely underreported and Worcestershire is no exception.

Domestic abuse is not an inevitable part of life, but many men, women and children are understandably worried about what could happen if they speak out. However, the support available could make their lives so much better.

Residents can report abuse in confidence by contacting their local police station, or in an emergency by phoning 999. For confidential information, support and advice, they can phone the free 24- hour helpline 0800 980 3331 or visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/wfada.
