ROADS were blocked by fallen trees in Wyre Forest as strong winds swept across the district.
A large tree fell and blocked the carriageway at the junction of Eastwood Drive and Comberton Road at about 2pm yesterday, causing traffic hold-ups.
The road was closed for about two hours to allow the tree to be cleared away.
Kidderminster resident Bob Millward said he saw the tree fall about 200 yards in front of him.
“Fortunately there was no traffic at the time or anyone in the immediate vicinity,” he added.
“As I approached the fallen tree I rang the police but before we had finished our conversation a police car had arrived.”
Meanwhile, a tree also fell on the B4194 in Bewdley at about 11.55am. A local landowner managed to load the tree on to his vehicle and the road was repoened at about 2.50pm.
