ADULTS with learning disabilities who attend a day service in Bewdley will be lacing up their walking boots to raise funds for a specialist play area.

Reach Community Services users will be sponsored to take on the Wren Trail, a one-mile route through the Wyre Forest, on Wednesday (april 9) in aid of the Wyre Forest Specialist Play Area (WYSPA).

Manager Alison Coley-Smith said: "They are excited and feel very proud to be helping and supporting WYSPA to raise funds to develop an outdoor specialist play area for children and young people with disabilities, their family and friends. "This will provide an all-inclusive area for physical and social play, as well as a place where parents can meet, support each other and develop friendships."

Reach Community Services is based at Bewdley Cricket Club, in Lower Park and is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.15am to 3.15pm.

It provides day activities including arts and craft, baking, sports and day trips.

Jodie Murrell, of WYSPA, said: "WYSPA are extremely grateful to Alison for organising the sponsored walk and we would like to thank her and everyone at Reach for supporting us.

"We have raised £10,000 so far towards accessible play equipment for the play area and all the money raised by Reach will go towards play equipment.

"WYSPA have recently had contact with representatives of Stourport Town Council who have provided us with a lot of options to explore.

"At present we are still struggling to find a suitable location. We would like to be located in the Wyre Forest, as no facility like this exists locally. If there is anyone who can help or provide information about possible locations please contact Kaye Coldrick at info@wyspa@yahoo.co.uk."
