THE opening of the new Bewdley Tesco store will be marked with a donation to the Bewdley Youth Café.

David Beard and Mayor of Bewdley Derek Killingworth, who is one of the founders of the café charity, will be the guests of honour when the new Load Street express store opens tomorrow (November 14).

They will be joined by Leighton Pickett, store manager, and eighteen staff members recruited to work in the new store to cut the ceremonial ribbon.

A cheque for £500 will be presented by the store as part of its “commitment to supporting the local community.”

Mr Pickett said: “We are really looking forward to our launch celebrations and meeting David and Councillor Killingworth from Bewdley Youth Café, which is a fantastic organisation that helps and serves young people in the local community.

“I am thrilled with my new team and I am confident that we will provide the best possible service to our customers.”

Bewdley Youth Café provides a place for young people in the town to meet, socialise and receive personal support and advice.

The advice can be for a variety of subjects including education, bullying, drugs and alcohol misuse and sexual health.

From 8am on Friday, the doors of the new Tesco Express will open for the first time, with the official opening ceremony and cheque presentation taking place later that morning at 10.30am.

Opening hours for the store, which offers a free cash machine, self-service tills, Click & Collect and dedicated customer parking, will be from 6am until 11pm, seven days a week.
