A FORMER nursery nurse who looked after children at centres and schools throughout Wyre Forest and Birmingham has retired.

Patricia Farr, 64, left her role as teaching assistant at Bayton Primary School, where she has worked for the past 13 years, on December 19.

“I feel really privileged to have been able to do a job that I loved doing so much,” she said.

“I couldn’t have asked for any more from the experiences I have had and the love the children have given me.

“I love all the children and I will miss them all very much.”

Patricia started her career in January 1968 with a two-year nursery nurse training at Cartland Road Day Nursery when she was 17-years-old.

After qualifying, she moved to Pershore Road Day Nursery, where she stayed for a few years before moving back to Cartland Road to take up a more senior position.

She “eventually” transferred to education department where she worked at Nelson Primary School in Ladywood, Birmingham, Foley Park School, in Kidderminster, and then at Bewdley Primary School.

Marika Farr, Patiricia’s daughter, said: “She is adored by all the children and the parents have said they don't want her to retire.”

Patricia said she use her retirement as a chance to relax and go on holidays.
