At the meeting on April 13, the demonstrator was Sharon Harvey her title was “Modern floristry”.

Sharon`s first design was of peach coloured gerberas, orange carnations and bronze spray chrysanthimums cut short and made into a dome shape in a lace designed pot.Pins with pearl heads were then added to the centre of the gerberas.

Another arrangement was in a tall glass goblet and a phormium leaf was put inside the bowl of the glass. This design would be be ideal in the centre of a round table.

An oval metal container was used for the next design and large fatsia leaves covered the foam.Red flexible cane had been cut into circles and fastened together to form a frame.Large red anthuriums were placed at angles and bronze spray chrysanths cut short were placed through the arrangement, red midelino sticks completed the design.

Sharon`s last design was a square small container covered in silver bling fabric which sparkled under the lights.A contorted hazel branch had centre place, with shaped aspidistra leaves were around the base.Three large orange gerberas with clear glass headed pins were then added and orange calla lillies were threaded up and through the hazel.

Small gel balls had been added to several of the arrangements which was not only another way of covering up the green foam but also keeping the foam moist.

Sharon gave us some new ideas and tips for modern arrangements and showed us what could be achieved by using a little imagination.

The next meeting will be held at Wharton Park Golf Club at 7.30 pm on May 11 when Marie Munday will be our demonstrator with the title “A day trip to London”.
