BEWDLEY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The group elected a new chairman at the AGM. Ivan Perrins, who is Bewdley born and bred, has been a keen member for several years, and hopes to recruit new members, especially since our meetings are now held in central Bewdley. Secretary Stuart Williams thanked treasurer Shirley Pearson and the other hard working committee members then asked us all to join him in remembering Tom Hall. He will be sadly missed particularly for his enthusiasm and sense of humour. The rest of the evening saw guest Derek Walker running a fun quiz, which was won by Wendy Gibbons, June Harrop, Mary Hale and Gill Gray. Light refreshments were provided by Val and Sally Porter.
The March 16 meeting is at Riverside Church, Dog Lane, 7 for 7.30pm start. Sue Russell will be telling us about Old Fashioned Roses. Sue retired to Shropshire from running a nursery in Suffolk. She was member of the RHS’s pinks trials committee and has run courses on rose pruning. She also opens her garden for the NGS scheme.
Non members are welcome as always.
