Members got the chance to try their hand at willow work ath the January meeting.

Paul and Steph Simmons from Willowcraft, Woodland Art and Crafts, spoke enthusiastically about their coppice in Abberley, its management and the craft of coppicing and brought lots of examples of their willow work.

They demonstrated how easily some things can be made from a willow stick. A few of the audience tried but felt we needed a lot more practice to become proficient.

President Kate Andrew outlined a number of events in the Spring: Women Reaching Women at the Guildhall on March 5; The Annual Council Meeting at the Three Counties Showground on March 23 that will include the Arts and Crafts exhibition and competition, the theme being ‘Proverbs’.

There is also a brilliantly planned Day at Perrins Hall at the Grammar School in Worcester: Health, Wealth & Fitness Day on April 16.

Abberley WI meets at the Village Hall on the second Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm.
