Daredevils sought for Abberley charity abseil
9:10am Saturday 24th March 2012 in Abberley
A CHARITY for disabled children wants thrill-seekers and daredevils to sign up for a charity abseil during May.
Anybody over the age of 14 and up for a challenge can volunteer to abseil down Abberley clock tower to raise funds for Children Today.
The event takes place on Sunday, May 27 and will be the charity’s third abseil down the tower since starting in 2009.
No experience is necessary as participants will be instructed by a team of experts before they descend the 161ft tower.
Ceri Ward, fund-raiser for Children Today, said: “Previous events have been very successful, raising in the region of £4,000 each, so we are hoping as many people as possible will volunteer so we can raise even more this year to help disabled children.”
The clock tower, on Merritt’s Hill, is 700 ft above sea level and overlooks the Teme Valley with the Welsh mountains visible in the distance.
Regional fund-raising manager, Emma Fawcett, said: "This idyllic and picturesque clock tower is the perfect backdrop for an abseil so come and join us."
To take part in the challenge contact Ceri Ward on 01244 335622 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for a free information pack.
