A meeting was held at St Bartholomew’s School on January 24 attended by residents from Areley Kings together with local Councillors and PC Jon Harris from the Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Priorities from previous PACT meetings from both Stourport and Areley Kings were briefly reviewed; rubbish under the river bridge by the Crown pub, problems with parking outside Drinkers World, dead trees by Bilberry Close, transport links for Wyre Forest Crematorium, speed repeater signs on Dunley Road and problems with access around the Swan Hotel.

It was noted that the problem with overgrown vegetation on Windmill Bank had been resolved. Several new issues were brought forward that were causing concern for the community.

These included problems with the pedestrian crossing and general traffic management on Hermitage Road particularly due to the route being nominated as a “safer route to St Bartholomew’s School”; lack of grit bins on Windmill Bank; excessive litter in the area around Vawdry Close and a worrying increase in dog fouling on the recreation ground and pavements in Areley Kings. The next two meetings are due to take place on February 12 in the Lickhill Community Centre and March 27 in Areley Kings Village Hall, both start at 7pm.
