ARLEY holiday park residents raised nearly £500 for Help for Heroes at a charity fishing contest.
Twenty residents at Bank Farm Holiday Park, in Nib Green Lane, took part in the charity day at Wellfield Pools, in Shropshire, to raise £474.
Contestants had six hours to catch as many fish as they could. Ian Poutney won the event with 42lb 11oz, Stewart Thewliss came second with 41lb and 12oz and Bob Fenney was third with 40lb and 9oz.
Mal Storey Angling Centre donated the prizes which included fishing gear.
Help for Heroes aims to help people who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts.
Organiser Graham Pountney said: “We are grateful for donations received from all the kind-hearted residents.”
