Speaker, Jo Roche, gave a fascinating insight into the colourful history of Abberley Hall and Clock Tower at the March meeting.

With the aid of a few slides she took members through the story, with some very interesting tales about the people and their lives during the renovations, particularly from the time of John Joseph Jones whose pièce de résistance was the erection of the Clock Tower.

The meeting also reported on a round-up of events around the county. This included the Pantomime Workshop on April 13, a Grand Day Out in London during July as one of the events to mark the 95th Anniversary of the Worcestershire Federation and in June, The Lucy Hingley Lecture which will be on the subject of allergies.

An afternoon of art has been arranged for May 25 when some coaching on watercolour painting will be given for all skill levels. At Craft Club, attendees will be shown how to make a card using the technique of quilling. All materials will be provided so people just have to sign up, turn up and have fun.

On Saturday, June 8, there will be a table top sale at Astley Village Hall.

The skittles team won their game against Great Witley and the quiz team did very well to gain a respectable place in their heat in the county competition. They missed out on a place in the final but they did Astley proud.
