Members became catwalk models as the members’ evening at the October meeting turned into a fashion show.

Veronica had persuaded Stourport Manor Hotel to let the group borrow their red carpet for the evening to set the scene.

For this occasion members had provided some delightful treats, canapes, savouries, selection of sweets and drink for the evening’s finale.

Members had purchased articles from charity shops and dressed up accordingly.

Marjorie Whiting and Chris Hodginson had dressed as tramps and gave the running commentary and everyone joined in the fun.

Models included elegant ladies in posh attire wearing pearls and jewellery, racy youngsters in daring short skirts, unusual day wear, French haute couture and Di Crump wearing a colourful costume with a hat covered in sparkling fairy lights.

The worthy winner was Joyce Gibbons with a matching, trendy two piece. It was great fun.

In the business part of the meeting, Julie Jeacock had provided a lovely pot of chrysanthemeum for the table, Marina Pugh had donated the raffle prize and Suzanne Moule helped as hostess with committee members.

Members were reminded the Annual Council Meeting will be taking place at Malvern on October 30 and main speaker will be Kate Bliss.

New skittles captain Gwen Freeman has arranged two matches.

Astley play Far Forest on Wednesday, October 23 at Wharton Park and then Broome will be the opponents at Catshill on Monday, October 28.

‘Singing for Pleasure’ will be taking place on October 23 at Little Witley.

Bursary winner Suzanne Moule reported on her recent visit to Denham College.

She had opted for a photography course and it had been intense starting with a welcome on Thursday at 6pm and then the course all day Friday, Saturday and then Sunday morning. She had thoroughly enjoyed the links with other people.

She had been really impressed with the venue, grounds, hospitality, accommodation, concert and food.
