Puppies found dumped near Stourport
7:10am Sunday 26th February 2012 in Astley
SIX puppies were dumped in a cardboard box near Stourport and only three survived.
The lurcher-type puppies, believed to be six to seven weeks old, were found in a box behind a shed in Astley Cross.
They were sent to a vets but one had to be put to sleep and the other two died. The remaining three, Romeo, Casanova and Valentino are currently in isolation at an RSPCA animal centre in Shropshire.
RSPCA inspector Mark Lewis said: “I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the puppies or thinks they know who they belonged to.
“We know they haven’t been receiving adequate food and nutrition probably their entire lives meaning that when they were dumped it was too late for three of the pups.
“Sadly we find all too often young animals are abandoned being the result of an unwanted pregnancy. We urge pet owners to act responsibly and prevent their pet from getting pregnant by ensuring they are neutered.”
Anyone with information about the puppies should call the RSPCA national cruelty and advice line on 0300 1234 999.
