GOOD causes have been given a helping hand after a two-day music festival in Belbroughton raised £4,000.

The proceeds from Musica 13, held at Church Farm in Bradford Lane in July, have been split between the Midlands Air Ambulance, Sunfield special school in Clent and Belbroughton’s Animal Sanctuary and Protection.

The event, the third of its kind, included a rock and roll night with 50s and 60s hits played by the Bev Pegg Band plus performances by artistes Sam and Jess, Ben and Hannah, classical pianist Elliott Hinton, and singer-songwriter Corinna Jane.

There were also performances by Hagley Catholic High School 80s Band and their head of music, Fred Mallinson, plus 11 year-old vocalist Lucie Fletcher, the Jubilate Gospel Choir, Northfield Caledonia Pipes and Drums Band, a magician and comedian Al Rudge.

Organiser Gaye Hadley, who handed over funds to Sunfield last Wednesday (September 18), said she was “thrilled to bits” by the success of the fundraiser, which was held in a fully carpeted marquee and which followed previous events - Musica 09 and Musica 11.

She said: “We raised a lot of money this year and it will really benefit our three charities. I would like to thank all of the fantastic performers who took part, our wonderful audiences, and our kind sponsors.”
