SEVERN Valley Railway (SVR) will be hosting its first food festival at the SVR Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley, in Shropshire.

The two-day event, on Saturday and Sunday, will celebrate local food and drink by featuring cookery demonstrations by top Midlands’ chefs as well as wine talks and tasting.

A market area will also offer a range of stall holders including Bella’s Cupcakes, the afro-Caribbean Mukaase Foods, Snoggable Garlic, Heather’s Harvest - specialising in chutneys and marmalades - Three Tuns Brewery and Tipsy Fruit Gins.

Children are welcome to attend the event, were there will be a purpose-built playground with additional garden games and face painting.

A small deco patch workshop will also run at the Engine House during the festival, suitable for both adults and children.

Clare Gibbard, SVR’s marketing and communications manager, said: “We are very excited to be adding the food festival to our eclectic calendar of events and are proud to lend our support to the brilliant culinary offering here in the Midlands and beyond.

“Our special events are always incredibly popular and we’re sure the food festival will be no different.

“There’s certainly something to appeal to everyone, with a wide range of sweet and savoury delicacies, drinks galore and specialities from around the globe. It’s the perfect family day out.”
