Bewdley has long been associated with the arts but until now has not had a town or community band to call its own. Well things are about to change as Bewdley Concert Band is being born.

The band is being formed by Mrs Valerie Blount who is music co ordinator at Bewdley Primary. She believes that there are many players in and around Bewdley. Many from the schools and also adult players from the local community who may have learnt a wind or brass instrument in the past. Bewdley Concert Band already has a very experienced musical director who is currently collecting together suitable music. Ian Worton, who is also musical director of Highley Colliery Band and The City of Wolverhampton Band, is keen to take on Bewdley Concert Band and has high hopes for its future.

Bewdley Concert Band will be based at Bewdley Primary School and practises will take place each Saturday morning. Players are now being sought for the new band which will officially start on Saturday 2nd October.

Based on information supplied by Mrs Valerie Blount.
