AN ARSON attack at an isolated bungalow at Blakedown is being investigated by police.

The incident happened at the property off New Wood Lane, shortly before 1.20pm last Thursday. Police were called to the scene by the fire service which put out the flames.

Two men inside the property were alerted by a smoke alarm and were able to get out unharmed.

Fire crews extinguished two blazes, one by the front entrance and another which affected a window. Although there was scorching and smoke damage, there was no structural damage to the property.

Det insp John Cashion of Kidderminster CID said: “There were two seats of fire and while we are still awaiting a fire investigator’s report it is clear this was started deliberately and we are treating it as arson.

“Fortunately noone was hurt but obviously it could have been much more serious and it is essential anyone who has information that could help us trace whoever is responsible for this comes forward.

“The offenders may well have been watching the property for a while before the fires started so we want to hear from anyone who was in that area who saw anybody or any vehicle in suspicious or unusual circumstances, in particular between 1pm and 1.30pm on Thursday.”

Offices have carried out enquiries in the neighbourhood and there will be patrols in the area to provide a deterrent and reassurance.

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 302-S-241013, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
