June Gordon attended the AGM in London on behalf of our WI - she was clearly very impressed by the proceedings and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, with the Queen and other royalty present. She gleaned some interesting snippets which she shared with us - 100 years ago the subscription was just 2/-, and Jerusalem was the anthem of the Suffragettes.

Interestingly, the Resolution was not voted upon - generally it was felt that it was not sufficiently focussed and impractical - endorsing our vote last month.

Overall the message was that women are strong.

Ann Lowe had attended the Royal Garden Party held for the Centenary. She described the day and the thrill of going to Buckingham Palace.

The experience was enhanced for her as she was given the rare opportunity to meet the Countess of Wessex - and practise her curtsey.

It was such an amazing experience for her and her photos allowed us all to have a peek too.

We were then entertained by music from the Grace Notes choir - a mix of popular and folk music, and songs with themes of war and slavery. They finished with a medley of Abba songs.
