Blakedown WI
10:30am Saturday 24th March 2012 in Blakedown
Peter Preece, assisted by his wife Margaret, gave a very interesting talk on photographing wild life at the March meeting.
The talk was illustrated by wonderful pictures and he shared with us some of the secrets of his skill; explaining that 95 per cent of the work was setting the scene carefully and patience leaving five per cent for the camera.
His patience certainly paid off for the results were stunning.
The talk may well inspire members to enter the WI photography competition for the 2014 calendar entitled ‘Water within Worcestershire’.
Members were reminded of the Group Meeting to take place on April 24 which Blakedown is hosting.
Other dates to be noted: May 18: a wine and cheese evening; August 21: a trip to Cardiff Bay is planned; and October 10: the Birthday Meeting to be held at Blakedown Golf Club.
The date for the strawberry tea will be confirmed shortly.
Nadine Anderson gave a report on her recent visit to Denman College using the bursary she received.
She spoke of the beautiful house and grounds and the interesting course she had chosen – an introduction to using eBay. She urged members to put their names forward for the next award to be made in May.
May is also the month of the annual 'Annie Harrison Plate Competition'.
The recipe was to be found in the County News Sheet.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, April 11, featuring 'A planting demonstration' from Hodge Hill Nursery, followed by an Easter Bonnet Parade.
