STAFF at a Cleobury Mortimer school were quick to praise the achievements of their students who were back in the school today collecting their GCSE results.

More than 64 per cent of students at Lacon Childe School achieved the national benchmark of five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.

School headteacher, Darren Reynolds, said: “Congratulations to all of our students who have achieved excellent GCSE examination results this year.

“Especially in a year that has seen a great deal of change and volatility in the examination systems.

“As a school we are proud of our students’ achievements and especially thankful to our dedicated, hard working staff who have prepared students for this success.”

Top performing pupils at the school were Ben Phillips, who achieved eight A* grades and an A, Greg Young, who was awarded seven A* grades and three As, and Freya Scott who received seven A* grades and two As.

Kate Pearce, Library co-ordinator at the school, said: “Lacon Childe School is proud of all its students who, we know, will continue to grow and learn in their future academic and professional careers.

“We wish them the very happiest of futures.”
