The last open meeting of the year will be held on October 30.

Simon Carter, Director of the Avoncroft Museum of Buildings, will be joining us to talk about an original nailer’s cotttage which thmuseum has acquired.

The history of the cottage is currently being researched and restoration work is be carried out. The period of the cottage’s use extended from 1840 until 2013 and Simon Carter will tell us about the building and the history of the families who lived and worked there.

We shall also learn how and when the museum intends to display the cottage.

The entrance fee for non-members is £2.50 and that includes tea, coffee and biscuits. We meet in Clent Parish Hall, Church Avenue, at 8pm.

Please also make a note that the thirteenth biennial ‘History and archive day’ will be held in Clent Parish Hall on November 16 (11- 4pm).

Our archive material will be on display and there will be additional information this year, paying tribute to the 118 village men who enlisted to fight in the First World War, to the 31 who were killed and the 87 who returned home, several of whom were injured - physically, mentally or both.
