A strong saw, a serrated kitchen knife, small sharp scissors, very sharp secaters, large plastic bag for the unmentionable bits and brute force.

No, it was not a medical operation but Brian Ellis operating on his ‘Shoots and Roots’ at the latest meeting.

With plenty of audience participation, Brian, from Avondale Nursery at Bagington, near Coventry, answered the many questions thrown at him in his usual light-hearted way. He brought for sale a wonderful selection of plants, many very unusual and not easily obtainable.

Helen Weldon, of Wyre Forest Hedgehog Rescue, willl be talking about ‘Hedgehogs’ at the meeting on Wednesday, April 10. Hedgehogs seem to be very much in the news at the moment with every gardening and wildlife magazine making people aware of the dangers to their survival.

The meeting takes place at Chaddesley Corbett Village Hall, from 7.30pm for coffee and chat before commencing at 8pm.

On Wednesday, May 8, Barry Knee, from Pump Cottage at Weatheroak, will talk about ‘The 20 Years of Trial and Tribulations of developing Pump Cottage Gardens’.
